A common assumption is that once a CCTV camera or recorder fails, the whole system needs replacing. CCTV issues on 1960s–70s estate housing

Park Wood estate built mainly in the 1960s-70s; older cores at Rainham Mark, Macklands and the former separate village of Lower Rainham A lot of CCTV on estates of this era was fitted as a bolt-on some years after the house was built, often with cabling run externally along soffits and down pebbledash or render that has since cracked around the fixings. That movement is a common cause of a camera slowly working loose or a cable connection failing.
