CCTV Installation Cost in Kent & South East London
The cost of installing surveillance cameras across our Kent and South East London service area comes down to six things: camera count and type, recorder and storage, cabling difficulty, home or business site, remote viewing set up and ongoing maintenance. We survey free and quote in writing, so you see each one priced.
Whether you are pricing four cameras on a house in Gillingham or a full system for a business in South East London, the answer is the same: the figure is built from the equipment your property needs and the hours it takes to fit it neatly. We work throughout Kent and South East London, roughly an hour's journey from our Chatham ME5 base. Below is how each part moves the number, so you can compare quotes like for like.
Why We Do Not Publish a Price
Any figure published without seeing the building is either padded enough to cover the worst case or low enough to get someone through the door and then grow on the day. Neither helps you compare quotes, and the second one is why so many people arrive here having already had a bad experience.
What we do instead is survey free of charge, then quote in writing with the equipment and the labour listed separately. You can see which cameras are specified, where they go, what recorder and storage is included, and how many engineer days the work is priced at. If you want to remove something to bring the figure down, you can see exactly what removing it costs you in coverage.
The quote is fixed for the agreed scope. If we find something on installation day that we should have spotted at survey, that is our problem, not an extra line on your invoice.
The Four Things That Move the Number
Camera count and type
Each camera adds equipment and labour. Specialist housings, colour at night and two way audio cameras cost more than a basic turret, and are worth it only where the view demands them.
How hard the cabling is
A modern house with a boarded loft and accessible eaves is quick. Solid walls, no loft access, three storeys, or a driveway run to an outbuilding all add hours, and hours are the honest part of any quote.
Recorder and retention
How long you want to keep footage decides drive size. Surveillance rated drives cost more than desktop ones because they are designed to write continuously for years.
Domestic or commercial
Commercial sites often need network segregation, a lockable cabinet, cabling to a comms room and work outside trading hours. That is a different job to a four camera house.
Remote Viewing and Maintenance
Remote viewing is part of the installation, not a subscription. We set up the Hikvision or Dahua app on your phone, secure the recorder on your network and show you how to find and export footage before we leave.
After that, the running cost is upkeep: cleaning domes, checking the drive is still recording and keeping firmware current. You can do much of it yourself with our maintenance checklist, or have us do it through CCTV servicing. For business sites, see commercial CCTV installation; for the county overview, see CCTV installation in Kent.
Where People Waste Money
- Buying camera count instead of camera position. Four cameras placed properly beat eight covering the same fence line twice.
- Paying for resolution the lens cannot use. An 8MP camera on a wide view still will not identify a face forty metres away.
- Budget kits with no parts supply. When a power supply or a housing fails in year three, the whole system is a write off.
- Replacing a system that only needed a recorder. If the cabling is sound, that is a fraction of the work.
- Subscription cloud storage nobody needed. Local recording on Hikvision and Dahua carries no monthly fee.
