Alarm repairs usually start with a symptom rather than a cause: the keypad keeps beeping, the alarm will not set, it goes off at night for no reason, or a zone keeps showing a fault. Behind those symptoms the same handful of causes come up again and again, and knowing them is what makes a repair quick.

• Worn standby batteries in the panel or external siren.
• Wireless detectors or contacts losing signal or running flat.
• PIR sensors triggered by pets, heaters, sunlight or insects.
• Tamper faults from a lid, cable or bell box that has been disturbed.
• Keypads going blank or not responding after a power or cable fault.
• Monitoring or app signalling that has stopped reporting.

How a repair visit works

The engineer reads the panel's event log first. It records which zone triggered, when, and what the panel reported, which turns guesswork into a short list. From there the faulty part is tested and either repaired, reset or replaced. We explain what we found before replacing anything, and the full system is tested at the end so a second fault is not left behind.

If a code is needed and nobody has it, we explain whether the panel can be reset without losing its programming before going further.

Makes we repair

We repair alarms whoever installed them, including Pyronix, Texecom, Risco, Honeywell Galaxy, Menvier, Eaton Scantronic, Orisec, Visonic and Yale systems. Some older panels are no longer supported and parts are hard to find. In that case we tell you straight away, and explain which parts of the existing system could be reused if replacement is the sensible route.

Things you can safely try first

Some alarm faults can be cleared without a visit. We would rather you solve a simple problem yourself than pay for a visit you did not need.

Before you book, what helps us fix it faster

A little information before the visit makes the repair quicker. Tell us the make of the panel if you can see it on the keypad or the box, the exact message the keypad shows, and when the problem started. If the alarm has been going off, note the time and whether anything changed at home, such as new furniture, a new pet, building work or a power cut.

If you have any paperwork from the original installer, such as a handover sheet or old service record, keep it to hand. It sometimes includes the engineer code or zone list, which saves time on the day. If you have none of this, that is fine. The panel's own event log gives us most of what we need, and we work through it with you before changing anything on the system.
