Pyronix Euro panels and Orisec systems both offer smartphone apps that let you arm, disarm and monitor your alarm remotely, and most of the calls we get about these apps involve a connection problem or missing notifications rather than a fault with the alarm panel itself. Because the app relies on your home internet, your phone's settings and the panel's own communication module all working together, there are several places a fault can creep in.

It helps to think of the app connection as a chain: your phone talks to a cloud server over the internet, that server talks to a communication module fitted inside or alongside your alarm panel, and the panel itself reports its status back through that module. A break at any point in that chain stops the app updating, even though the physical alarm may be arming and disarming perfectly normally at the keypad.

Some settings within the app, such as notification preferences, are genuinely safe for a homeowner or manager to adjust. Others, particularly anything involving communication module configuration, engineer codes, or the panel's core programming, should only be touched by whoever installed or maintains the system.

    What You Will Usually Notice

The app shows the system as offline even though it arms and disarms fine at the keypad
Push notifications for arming or alarm events have stopped arriving
The app takes a long time to update the system status after arming
You cannot log back into the app after a phone upgrade or reinstall
The app shows a different system status to what the keypad is actually displaying

Safe Checks You Can Do Yourself

    1

Check your phone's notification permissions for the app

Confirm within your phone's own settings that notifications are allowed for the alarm app, as an operating system update occasionally resets these permissions without you realising.

    2

Confirm your home internet connection is working normally

Check that other devices in the property can access the internet normally. If your router has recently been reset or its provider has changed, the communication module may need reconnecting by an engineer.

    3

Force close and reopen the app

A simple app restart resolves many temporary display glitches where the app shows an outdated status that does not match the panel.

    4

Check for a pending app or phone software update

Outdated app versions occasionally lose compatibility with the cloud service. Checking your phone's app store for a pending update is a safe first step.

    5

Log out and back in with your existing credentials

If you can still remember your login details, logging out and back in sometimes refreshes a stuck connection between the app and the cloud service without affecting the alarm settings.

    What Normally Causes It

A change to your home router or internet provider

The communication module fitted to the panel often needs specific network settings, so a new router, a changed Wi-Fi password, or a different internet provider can break the connection until it is reconfigured.

Notification permissions reset by a phone update

Operating system updates on both Android and iOS occasionally reset app permissions, silently switching off notifications for individual apps including the alarm monitoring app.

A fault or signal issue with the communication module

The module linking the panel to the cloud, whether it uses broadband or a mobile signal, can develop a fault or lose signal, cutting off the app's connection while the panel itself continues to operate normally.

An account or login issue following a phone change

Setting up the app on a new phone sometimes needs re-pairing with the panel rather than a simple login, particularly if the original installer set up the account under specific engineer access.

Cloud service maintenance or an outage

Occasionally the manufacturer's cloud platform itself experiences downtime, which affects app connectivity for many users simultaneously regardless of any local fault.

A depleted backup battery causing communication instability

When the main panel's backup battery reaches the end of its life, it can place an extra load on the power supply. This often manifests as the communication module dropping offline intermittently, even though the mains power to the property is stable.

When to Stop and Call an Engineer

The communication module needs reconfiguring after a router or provider change
You need to re-pair the app with the panel following a phone change and the standard login will not work
The panel shows a communication fault on its own keypad display
You need engineer-level access to change core system settings behind the app
The fault persists after confirming your internet, phone settings and app version are all correct

    Keeping it from coming back

Let your installer know in advance whenever you plan to change your router or internet provider, so the communication module can be reconfigured at the same time and avoid an unexpected loss of app connectivity.
