Why a Hikvision Camera Goes Offline
An offline Hikvision camera almost always comes down to one of four things, and three of them you can fix yourself without an engineer:
- Network drop: PoE switch, router or fibre outage
- Hik-Connect verification: code expired or device unbound
- IP conflict: new router handed out an address already in use
- Firmware mismatch: camera and NVR on different versions

Power-cycle router & NVR
Unplug both for 30 seconds, then power the router first, NVR second. Fixes about half of all offline reports.
Check the PoE port LED
If the LED is dark, swap the camera to a known-good port. If it stays dark, the camera or cable is the fault.
Re-add the channel in the NVR
Delete and re-add the camera using its IP and the original device password (not the NVR password).
Refresh the Hik-Connect link
In the app: device → Settings → Verification Code → re-enter the 6-character code printed on the camera label.
Still offline after all four steps?
