Almost every alarm panel on the market, whether it is a Pyronix, Texecom, Honeywell, Orisec or Eaton system, includes a built-in lockout feature that activates after a set number of incorrect code entries in a row. This is a deliberate security measure rather than a fault, designed to stop someone standing at your keypad repeatedly guessing at codes until they get lucky.
The exact behaviour varies slightly between brands. Some panels lock the keypad for a short cooldown period of a few minutes before allowing another attempt, while others may sound a warning tone or, on rare occasions, trigger a tamper or duress condition if the wrong entries continue. None of this means the system itself is broken, and in the vast majority of cases the correct code entered calmly once the lockout period ends will work perfectly normally.
Genuine problems only start when the correct code has actually been forgotten, or when a household member entered a code that used to work but has since been changed or deleted by someone else with master access. In those situations, waiting out the lockout will not help, since the issue is the code itself rather than the temporary lock.
