Resetting a Pyronix alarm after it has gone off

What to do after a Pyronix alarm activation: silencing, clearing the alarm memory, restore messages and remote reset from the app.

When a Pyronix alarm activates, stopping the siren is only the first step. The panel remembers what happened, and depending on how it was set up it may show an alarm memory, ask for a restore, or refuse to arm again until someone clears the event. This is normal behaviour designed to make sure an activation is noticed, not a fault.

This guide is about the user side of that process. If you are locked out of engineer settings, see our Euro 46 engineer code guide or the Pyronix Enforcer master code page instead.

    What You Will Usually Notice

    • The keypad shows an alarm memory after the siren stopped.
    • The panel asks for a restore or will not arm again.
    • A tamper message appears after the activation.
    • The app shows the alarm event but the keypad still flashes.
    • The external siren strobe keeps flashing after the noise stops.

    What Normally Causes It

    Engineer restore is programmed

Some panels are set so only an engineer can restore after an activation, often because monitoring or insurance asks for it.

    A tamper was triggered

A disturbed bell box, detector cover or cable can raise a tamper that a user code cannot always clear.

    A zone is still open

If the door or sensor that triggered is still active, the panel will not arm until it is closed or omitted.

Low battery after a long siren

A long activation drains the siren or panel battery and can leave a battery fault behind.

Safe Checks You Can Do Yourself

    1

Enter your user code to silence

A valid user code at the keypad, or unsetting with a fob or the app, stops the siren. Check the property is safe before going further.

    2

    Read the alarm memory

View the event on the keypad or in the app. It shows which zone triggered, which tells you whether it was a door, a sensor or a tamper.

    3

    Check the triggering zone

Look for a door not fully shut, a window left open, a pet, a heater near a sensor, or anything moved in front of a detector.

    4

Clear the memory with the master code

On many set-ups the alarm memory clears when the system is next set and unset with a valid code. Some panels need the master user code.

    5

Use the app for a remote reset where enabled

If your installer enabled remote reset, the Pyronix app can clear the event without anyone at the keypad.

When to Stop and Call an Engineer

The panel asks for an engineer restore and no user code clears it.
A tamper returns every time it is cleared.
The same zone triggers again with nothing obvious causing it.
The alarm will not stop sounding with any valid code.
The battery fault stays after the system has been on mains for a day.

    Keeping it from coming back

Keep a note of which zone number covers which door or room. Check doors and windows before setting, move heaters and balloons away from sensors, and have the system serviced yearly so batteries and tampers are tested.
